The existing North Park home needed 640 square feet of added space without losing its relationship to the rear garden. The new footprint required foundations and framing that could support both the enclosed addition and an outdoor room.
A rear addition with an outdoor room. New foundations, framing, and a quiet stretch of glazing onto the garden.
The existing North Park home needed 640 square feet of added space without losing its relationship to the rear garden. The new footprint required foundations and framing that could support both the enclosed addition and an outdoor room.
Apex Works developed the rear addition and garden connection together, coordinating new foundations, framing, and a restrained band of glazing. The outdoor room became part of the circulation and view strategy instead of an isolated landscape feature added after the building work.
The ten-month build added the required interior area and a sheltered outdoor room, with the new glazing establishing a direct, quieter connection between the house and garden.
