How we work

One team, from first sketch to last nail.

Step one
01

Design.

We sit with the home and the people in it, then draw. A few big moves, slowly. Plans, structural, and permits in-house.

Step two
02

Build.

One team carries the project from framing through MEP and finishes. No new faces showing up halfway through to figure out what the last crew left.

Step three
03

Tend.

Two-year warranty. Ten-year follow-up. We come back, because homes change, settle, and need people around them.

Frequently asked

What people ask before we start.

What does Apex Works do?

Apex Works is a Southern California design and build firm. We take on ground-up custom homes, whole-home remodels, additions, and ADUs across San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles — with kitchens and baths handled by the same crews. Architecture, permits, electrical, and plumbing all happen in-house, with one team you actually know by name.

Do you build custom homes from the ground up?

Yes. We take a project from the empty lot to the final walkthrough: lot due diligence, architecture, structural and civil engineering, permits, and full construction under one license. A scrape-and-rebuild on an established lot is a common path too.

Where in California does Apex Works build?

We work throughout Southern California. San Diego County, Orange County, and Los Angeles County. Recent projects include La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Clairemont, Encinitas, North Park, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Mission Hills, Solana Beach, Costa Mesa, and Manhattan Beach.

How long does a typical project take?

Ground-up custom homes run 18–26 months from first meeting to move-in. Whole-home remodels run 8–14 months. Rear additions run 8–12 months. Detached ADUs run 6–10 months. Kitchens run 8–12 weeks and primary baths 5–8 weeks. Timelines depend on the scope and the local jurisdiction's permitting timeline.

Do you build ADUs in California?

Yes. We design and build detached ADUs up to 1,200 square feet and junior ADUs (JADUs) up to 500 square feet. We handle California ADU code compliance, setbacks, parking exemptions, and utility connections in-house.

Is Apex Works a licensed contractor?

Yes. CSLB #1144953, fully insured. Because architecture, electrical, and plumbing all live under one license, you aren't coordinating three different companies who never met.

What is the warranty?

Two-year workmanship warranty on all construction, plus a ten-year follow-up check-in to inspect settling, finishes, and systems.

How do I start a project?

Use the contact form, email support@meetapx.com, or call +1 (858) 667-0800. We reply to every inquiry the same day. The first call is 30 minutes. We use it to understand the home and the program before we quote anything.
