About this project

A 1960s house, asked to open up and stay quiet. Open-concept kitchen and living, master suite addition, and a full electrical re-think for the next decade.

Challenge

The 1960s plan separated the kitchen and living spaces while the household needed a more open center and a larger primary suite. The remodel also had to address the home’s electrical system as part of the same coordinated scope.

Approach

The design-build team treated the plan, addition, structure, and electrical work as one whole-house problem. The kitchen and living areas were opened to one another, the primary suite was expanded, and the electrical layout was reconsidered around the way the remodeled home would be used.

Outcome

The completed 3,400-square-foot home brings the shared rooms together, adds a primary-suite program, and carries the updated electrical plan through a single 11-month design-build project.
